Saturday morning coffee thoughts – noticeable differences

It’s Saturday morning which is one of my favorite days. Saturdays are my days to catch up on housework, do some writing and practice the art of selfcare. That means it’s bath night, and I plan on coloring my hair later. It is long overdue. The greys are definitely coming out strong.

It’s a little dark outside still but my inner alarm clock seems to be settled on waking me up at 7:45 am now.

I think it is safe to say that my sleep schedule has turned around after a really bad week of insomnia. Sticking to a schedule helps. I was in bed by 1 am last night and the dreams seemed to be a little more normal.

This week was one of the better weeks I’ve had in a long time. I got a lot accomplished around my condo. Got all the garbage and recycling taken out too. But by yesterday, I couldn’t walk on my knees. I wrapped them up and was limping around my kitchen. My right knee was swollen and couldn’t bear weight.

What that means if I need to either start wrapping my knees and have a cane at home – just in case. I need to head to the store for this. I might wait until I speak to the geneticist in a couple of weeks. We’ll see.

I just wanted to note some major difference and changes that are working for this week and hope to develop into long-term habits. I’ll use bullet form.

Noticeable differences this week

  • Getting 5-6 hours of straight sleep, no nightmares last night. Going to bed by midnight and waking up around 7:45 every day (inner alarm)
  • The bags or dark circles under my eyes are almost gone. The skin used to be hollow and baggy. Now it looks tighter and healthier.
  • My cheeks are still red from rosacea but no breakouts. Feels smoother since taking vitamin D3 regularly. Going to look into a multi-vitamin.
  • Taking my pain meds first thing in the morning and before bed I think is really helping.
  • Drinking 2 litres of water seems to be really helping overall for building muscle. Doing daily strength exercises. Cardio on alternate days.
  • Seeing definition in my arms. My tops are fitting better/looser in the chest area.
  • More energy the past couple of days. My knees were very sore yesterday after doing some planks. Taking it easy today. Need a good knee wrap.

That’s pretty much it for updates. I might head out to see my dad again tonight or tomorrow. It will be nice to get out again. The weather is colder again but at least we’re over the brunt of winter now. Spring officially starts end of March – so that’s coming up fast. I’m looking for ways to celebrate Spring Equinox this year and will share that with you in a few weeks. I’m in a very “earthy” phase of my life and just itching to get outdoors again.

Also, I wanted to take a moment to apologize for my email subscribers. I’ve been updating and the categories. All the pages have been updated too. Apparently, older posts are occasionally sending out new emails. There’s nothing I can do about that. is limited. You may want to follow the blog instead via WP instead of email. I do really apologize for that. I’ve signed up for my own emails to test it out. and oy vey!!

Anyway, have a great weekend and we’ll chat next week!

PS what do you think of the new artwork across the site? I’m adding designs to older posts so apologies if you receive multiple emails. I suggest unsubscribing email and just using the follow button instead.

Also come join me on TikTok. I deleted my music account due to the amount of spam and bots that followed me. I’m going to start sharing my artwork over there.
