Ever have one of those days where you think you should just stay in bed because you’re a hazard to yourself and those around you? Yeah, today has definitely been one of those days. It’s actually been one of those weeks where I’m wallowing in self pity from the pains of hypermobility.
Even with doing all the right things like eating healthy meals, cutting back on junk food, getting regular sleep – things don’t seem to be getting better. If it’s not a dislocated shoulder, it’s pain in my fingers and knees. Or it’s stomach issues. Or it’s the fatigue which doesn’t improve with exercise or fresh air. At least not this week.
Maybe it’s an arthritic flare up, I’m not sure. The only thing you can really do is take it easy. Get lots of sleep. Practice self care like hot baths, reading a good book or curling up with a heart warming movie that makes you cry.
The weather has been quite warm this week so I haven’t done any cooking. But I’ve still been eating mostly healthy. When I haven’t felt like doing much prep work, I’ve eaten soups or hand foods like fruit and raw vegetables. I’m currently munching on a pita wrap that’s too large. Half of it just fell out onto my lap. Spinach wraps are the most delicious type of wrap there is. It’s been my lunch every day this week – filling the wraps up with tuna, flaked salmon, deli meats and spinach leaves.
I have plans with my bestie tomorrow to go thrifting. I think this is best for searching for items to decorate with. Cheaper, and more meaningful.
This week has been all about self-care and self love. I’m trying to fill my days with projects and things I love to do like reading, watching movies, writing. Creating art and other material. I want to take some French lessons too and watch some old French movies.
I also deleted my Reddit account…less time arguing with assholes online – best mental health boost ever.
I got the brilliant idea to create a new series of playlists on Spotify last night. I listened to music that I learned as a teen in the 90’s on the piano. Old movie themes. Classical music. One song was so beautiful it made me tear up. I decided to renew my music website so I could start promoting the playlists there. The passion for music comes and goes. I blame TikTok for getting me back into it though. I guess it’s something that never really leaves you. I also ordered a replacement for a classical piano book that I had and played for almost an hour yesterday.
I’m having tons of fun with creating themed lists and album art.
Listening to this piano playlist – it gets me in the feels. It brings back memories of my childhood and watching movies with mum. What I wouldn’t give to watch a movie with her again.
Just listen to this beautiful music. It’s like I’m a teenager all over again learning these songs for the first time. The 90’s was truly one of the greatest decades for movies and movie music. The theme to On the Golden Pond just gives me chills. I picked out 50 of my favorite tracks from movies over the years. There are just so many great songs to choose from.
Friday night movie night – 80’s & 90’s drama
It’s Friday which means it’s time for a movie night. I think it’s appropriate to watch something from the 80’s and 90’s era. This piano playlist reminded me of a lot of great movies from the 80’s. I also want to get back into watching classic movies from the 60’s. I downloaded a bunch of old Twilight Zone episodes to get me in the mood for spooky season which is around the corner. I watched St. Elmo’s Fire the other night and the movie is still cheesy, but I love it. And the soundtrack too.
If you’re looking for older movies to watch of the drama nature, then here are some movies from this playlist. These are just a few of many movies from that era. I’m going to start doing more movie list recommendations. It’s that time of year again where the weather is getting colder, the days are shorter – and there’s nothing better than curling up to a good movie.
This is my bucket list of movies to watch over the next few months. Some of them are from the 70’s and really hard to find online.
- Brian’s Song
- Cinema Paradiso
- Dr. Zhivago
- Ice Castles
- Legends of the Fall
- Love Story

Terms of Endearment – an 80’s classic
I think for tonight, I might watch Terms of Endearment. I love anything with Shirley MacClaine who is just legendary. All star cast in this award winning movie starring Jack Nicholson, Shirley MacClaine and Bill Pullman who is a favorite of mine.
This movie was huge all through the 80’s. You couldn’t go into a store without seeing ads for this movie everywhere. I honestly haven’t watched it since I watched it with my mum back then. I’m dating myself here.
If you love Shirley, then you might also like the original Steel Magnolias movie – I might watch that tonight too for a good ugly cry.
What are your favorite movie memories from the 80’s and 90’s? I have a huge playlist of movies geared up for spooky season and will start watching around 30 days before Halloween September 30th to be exact. It’s amazing how movies can transport you back in time.
