It’s Tuesday morning and I woke up about half an hour ago feeling relaxed and refreshed. I’ve been working on turning my sleep schedule around and aiming for at least six hours of sleep every night, and to be up no later than 9 in the morning. With the exception of a couple of days, it seems to be working. The cooler weather and shorter days also help.
The forecast is predicting rain all week. I suppose that is good for the farmers. But it’s too good, too late. My flowers have pretty much died. They’re all brown and even plant food won’t help them bounce back. I have to get outside in the next couple of days and vacuum the area rug. The petals are dropping like crazy. It’s sad. While I love this time of year, I also have loved having beautiful flowers on my balcony.
But on the upside, chilly mornings like today make for great ambiance in photos and videos. I’ve got my warm cup of coffee, a glass of almond milk – and a new kind of breakfast. I’m eating a delicious protein bar that I made last night and an egg. In a serious effort to eat “mostly clean” – I’m trying new recipes and foods to keep things interesting. Fun fact. If you load up with protein in the morning or your first meal of the day, you’ll have more energy to get you through work, and you’ll feel full longer. It’s a great tip for weight loss.
Cozy rainy mornings
Goes great with a cozy fireplace. Even if it’s electric.
Home Decorating Project
My home decorating project is a daily and continuous thing. The living room is coming along nicely. I’m thinking that I might pick up a bookshelf from Ikea for the corner by the balcony. This room is actually pretty huge. The only issue is that the outlet in that corner hasn’t worked since I moved in. The owner needs to send out an electrician but maybe he can take care of it himself next time he’s out this way. It’s not a big deal.
I’m thinking either a brown Billy bookcase can go into the corner. I’m also looking on Facebook and Kiiji for vintage furniture pieces that will match my mom’s coffee table and record cabinet. These pieces are older than I am. No one else in the family wanted them and I happily took them home. I’m not crazy about using the record cabinet for the tv. Eventually, I’d like an actual tv console. But they’re so expensive right now.
The chairs however with their new slipcovers look fantastic. Not bad for a $70 find on Amazon and free delivery to boot with Prime which has definitely come in handy. I ordered in once a month.
For the shelves, I found some older photographs I had taken and reframed them. That project cost me — $0.00. I just repurposed items I already had. The artwork on the walls are temporary. I’m looking on sites like Etsy for handmade stuff to hang. I’ve always wanted hanging wall art – so maybe. I’ll share my Amazon wish list with you so you can see what kind of things I’m looking for. I’ve come to not like the carpet color. It’s green-grey and hard to match with. So, I’m going for mostly neutral colors for furniture, with blue, greys and orange or coral accents.
The table by the window with the planters isn’t a table at all – heh. It’s the top of my computer desk that is falling apart. I bought it second hand from Facebook three years ago. I think I might just repaint the unit. I’m leaning towards a teal or antique green kind of color. I’m also searching Amazon for chalk paint for this project.
An area rug is still a possibility. An old school friend suggested I put a bookcase in the corner and make a reading nook. It’s a great idea. I can also use the bookshelves to display artwork, and other collectables I have from my dad’s house.
Tuesday morning thoughts
I know I said that I wasn’t going to write so many mood posts. But some mornings I wake up and the ideas are flowing to me freely. I have to start writing them down. And I have like 30 posts saved in draft form. Writing might seem easy to me for others who read this blog – but it’s not always.
There are times when I get writer’s block too and don’t know what people want to read. I decided that – if people want to read what I write, they will. And so, I’m going to just write whatever I happen to feel that day. Some days I might not write at all. Other days, I might write two or three times.
What I am trying to do is work on art every day and create new products on my online shops so that WordPress isn’t the thing I’m focusing on.
Since I’m not able to work (maybe never again) at a full time job or even part time job right now, WordPress gives me something to look forward to every day. I know the comments section is quiet – but the blog continues to grow daily. I’m so close to 1000 followers. This boost fuels me with a renewed passion.
And so, I write what I feel. Whatever mood that may be. I do try and keep a positive outlook here and share what I think might help others in troubling times.
My new TikTok account also continues to grow daily. I’m researching creative ways to promote my Youtube channel and Spotify playlists. I’m having a lot of fun using the app to discover other artists out there. But with TikTok you have a daily limit of how many people you can follow. So, all in good time and moderation.
There are posts all about Christmas music already. I’m going to work on a batch of Christmas videos to advertise my two albums. The Celtic album from last year is still doing well with over 3,000 views on YouTube. My most popular video EVER. I’m going to create them early, but I won’t start sharing them until after Halloween. You’re welcome.
For now, I’m working on Spotify playlists by mood and they are growing fast with promotions. I love it! I think it’s really helped to spark those creative juices again.
Right now, I’m currently listening to Acoustic Guitar. It’s great for early mornings when you’re drinking your coffee and thinking about what to do for the day.
Daily positive thoughts
Well, I think that’s it for this morning. Don’t feel that you have to read every post I put out. I know I write a lot. I know engagement can be low at times. I’m working on making posts look really good by adding more photos and artwork. I’m also trying to write inspirational quotes and share things that I think can help those who need it. I’m also back to cooking and baking almost daily – and will be sharing lots of recipes with you.
I think tonight it’s going to be a roasted chicken kind of night with bell peppers. But we’ll see how the day goes.
For now, I’ll leave you with this thought – and wish you the most awesome day. Sending you all positive and cozy vibes. If I can make my home feel cozier on a budget, then you can too. And I’m telling you – it makes all the difference in the world.
