I’m sitting here in my recliner breathing a sigh of relief. It’s a bit cooler right now – 24C and most importantly, the building air conditioning has been cranked up. I’m stealing some. I have my door propped open to get some more air circulation flowing. It was so nice in my bedroom this morning that when I finally woke up, around 10 am, I did not want to leave my bed.
How did I manage to get my condo from 31C to 22-23C? It took some work. But I kept all the windows and blinds closed during the day and had all three fans and the humidifier on full blast yesterday. Once night time hit and the sun had moved away, I opened all the windows to get some major air flow going.
Then around midnight, I got the brilliant idea of putting the fans in the windows. The key is to PUSH the hot air out. One fan to push air out. One fan to bring cool air in. It’s the poor man’s version of AC. You can’t really control the temperature, but at least you’ll get some relief.
There’s also nothing better than having a cool shower at the end of a hot day. I find in this weather, if I have to go out, I usually have two showers. One in the morning to “wash up” and a quick one at the end of the day, to rinse off and cool down. A lukewarm bath can really help.
And if that isn’t enough, you can refer to my post two days ago about refreshing summer drinks. I’m currently enjoying a hot cup of coffee, and a tall glass of chilled peppermint tea.
I think the AC might be blowing a little too hard. I just heard a door slam in the hall and it shook the whole floor. But I’m not complaining. The breeze feels amazing.
In other news, today is my baby sister’s 30th birthday. I’m so proud of her but I miss her so much too. We were hoping to celebrate in person but there are still restrictions on in door and house gatherings. Once lifted, we’re going to have to have a family dinner. It’s been over a year since we were all together. I’m just glad I can see my dad again.
My sister will be dropping off some patio furniture for me this weekend, so I really need to clean and tidy the place up. The living room doesn’t need much work. But I’ve slacked on cleaning the kitchen. I’m trying to get into a routine where I at least put all the dishes in the dishwasher and keep the garbage tightly wrapped up. A lesson learned about the horrible mice infestation.
And speaking of – that property is still on the market. I think they’ve listed the price too high. Other units are going for $115-119. How do they think they’re going to get $125 for that infested place? Usually, I’m not this petty. But I’m still angry for how they were petty about money in the end. I was a good tenant for six years. In return, I expected a working, clean and safe home. Not too much to ask for, right?
I’ve been shopping on Amazon for a lattice for my balcony or mesh net. Something to provide more privacy at night time. But something that doesn’t block the top view as that is a hard condo rule. A white mesh would be perfect. This way I can sit on the balcony without creeps watching me from the parking lot.
And again, before you call me crazy – I was out there last night and sure enough, a car pulled into the parking lot and sat right next to the bus station. I moved my chair so they couldn’t see me. I’ll be glad to have the new furniture. It’s big and bulky and should provide some privacy too. I’m really looking forward to stretching out in the loveseat. It will be amazing.
And I think that’s it for today’s update on this summery Thursday.
How are you planning on spending your summer?
