It’s going to be a beautiful day!

Good morning! I thought I would hop online to provide a quick mid-month update. Hard to believe it’s already mid-May. Where is the time going? Where has this year gone? It doesn’t seem possible that we’re already nearly half way into 2021.

Have you noticed that time moves faster the older you get? Unless you’re waiting for urgent news or something really important like an Amazon delivery. I find the days are slipping by more and more. Maybe that’s a byproduct of being in your 40’s. As a kid, time seemed to move so slowly.

I was supposed to go in for a vaccine today but had to reschedule again for next week. These migraines are a killer. That’s two appointments I had to cancel. Luckily, it subsided and I was able to get out of bed around 10 am. I’ve been awake since 8:45 am, but the vertigo that comes with the migraines make it impossible to do much of anything until it passes. I’ve missed out on a lot in life because of them.

I am finally sitting down with my daily cup of instant coffee. It’s a dark roast and is delicious. I’m trying different flavours every month or so. My fridge is stocked up with food as I did my mid-month shopping yesterday. I’m down about six pounds still – but I need to eat more low carb meals.

As I’ve said before, in an effort to cut down on my grocery bill, I’m now only ordering in twice a month for deliveries. I don’t think it makes much of a difference. Rather than spending $100 weekly, I’m now spending $100 or $140 bi-weekly. My freezer is smaller so I have to be mindful of what I buy and I am making a serious effort to use up all the food in the fridge before it goes bad.

I moved on from lettuce to kale this week. I try to change things up every once in awhile. I ate iceberg lettuce for two weeks. Now I’m on a kale kick. I love just heating it up with some olive oil, seasoning and eating it like that. I need to cut back on bread again but I love it so much. Tonight I’m not sure what to make. Maybe hamburgers.

Now that the weather is warmer, it’s going to be plus 25C this weekend – I’m making more of an effort to get outside. I have big plans for tanning later. And I might actually get out for a walk. It’s a gorgeous day already. And the big tree outside – I think it’s maple maybe – has fully bloomed.

The sound of the birds chirping in the morning wake me up now. At least, it’s not a gull or magpie. I think it could be robins. I haven’t seen them yet – they’re hiding. There are lots of trees here. I also heard my first bunch of coyotes last weekend at midnight. The one time I wasn’t wearing headphones. And it scared the CRAP out of me. It wasn’t a sound I was used to hearing living downtown. I had heard others complain of coyote activity. It made me realize how far south I’ve moved.

I’m getting slowly back into art as I mentioned yesterday. I might order in a pack of watercolor brushes. I’ve always wanted to learn how to use watercolors. I tried some animation skills yesterday but my drawing – it’s hard to do with a tablet. I just need practice.

Dad is doing okay today. He’s supposed to come home on Monday. The family have been sending regular updates and offering love and support. I’ve been in touch with my aunt too. I’ve missed human connection.

I think that’s good enough for now. I have this creative burst of energy lately that makes me want to just write all the time. So, you can expect a lot more posts from me over the next while. WordPress is a weird place. I’m getting notifications on posts from 2019-2020 but not many on my daily posts here. So, maybe I need to work on better SEO.

Cheers, and happy Friday everyone.

I’m all showered up, got the suntan lotion and ready to head out. Some dark clouds coming in though!
