Monday mood – sometimes you have to ask for help, so you know you aren’t alone.

You may have noticed that I made some changes to this blog over the weekend. There are some new pages for you to check out including a personal development section in which I’m still working on. I hope to take some courses over the next bit on how to boost up self-confidence and other useful tools. I plan on sharing what I’ve learned with you all.

Instead of writing “woe is me” pity party posts every day, I decided to really improve the content I’m providing you. I still might do these posts from time to time. We all need to vent and this is a good place to do that. But in an effort to become a more serious writer, I am expanding my horizons.

Yes, I will be posting more recipes. I have to use up some pork chunks tonight and think I will make a hearty stew. I may have gone overboard on groceries this week.

I’m also going through older posts, adding some more key words and boosting up the SEO to help gain more organic traffic. And it’s working!

Caring is sharing!

My sister also dropped off a care package to this me weekend. I had asked if she could also pick up some toilet paper on the way as most stores were out again. Yeah, we’re back to that again because people are stupid.

We had a short chat before she went on her merry way. I went through the bag of goodies and she had provided about ten meals from M&Ms! I couldn’t believe it. When she told me she had something for me, I thought maybe she had done some baking. But there it was. Half a freezer full of delicious meals.

I already plowed through the Shepherd’s pie and shrimp lol. What can I say. She has better taste than I do. It was as delicious as it sounded. But now I have a healthy supply of frozen meals. I have lots of baking ingredients I need to use up as well this week. I have a wee little bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to food.

The cost of food is shocking

But there was some concern about being able to afford food this month. The prices of meat has skyrocketed. My usual weekly bill of $80 for food, was already up to $100. Now it’s a minimum of $120 with just the basics. That doesn’t include delivery or tip.

I’m thinking of signing on with Cotsco. Everyone has suggested it for stocking up on supplies like laundry detergent, etc. I might do that in the spring after I move. We’ll see.

If you know of someone who is struggling right now, I’ll tell you – a care package is the best way to show how you feel about that person. A home cooked meal goes a long way. Or a box of the basics like shampoo, soap, laundry detergent and bounce sheets.

A bad night

The weekend was pretty hard as you know from my post on Saturday night. I reached out to my psychologist. She had some pretty useful advice. And then this morning I got a call from someone else who has offered to help me. I’m vague posting again but I have to. All I can say is I feel this tremendous relief.

I felt really alone on the weekend. But I realized today that there are good people out there who are willing to lend a hand when you need it.

You just have to learn to ask for the help. Put your pride aside – and reach out. Because people are generally decent. They will come running if you ask them to.

And that’s my sage advice for the day. It’s getting dark already in my condo so I’m going to turn on some Christmas lights and brighten up the place.

Thanks to ALL my newest followers. I’m stunned at the traffic coming to this blog now. You all make this worthwhile.
