Getting healthy “summer plan”

May quickly came and went. We are into June now and I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. I haven’t done any of the things I said I was going to do in the fall.

Well, I guess that’s not true – I’ve made some major changes in my life that I’m pretty proud of. But I still have lots to do over the next few months.

Now that my extra credit debt has been paid off – I let out a loud “woo hoo” when I saw the zero balance this morning on both accounts – I’m slowly starting to pick up some tools and gadgets I’ve been longing for over the last few years.

I placed an order with London Drugs today and paid for same day shipping – expecting the package to arrive Monday some time (it’s almost midnight as I type this now on Sunday night) – but it came within just four hours! Everything was exactly right. And both shipments came at the same time.

I spent the afternoon filling up my wish lists and shopping cards for next month. What did I get for May?

Most importantly, I got some hair dye. Oy vey. Am I right? Into the third month of isolation and I need an update bad. I’m going for dark brown (almost black) this time.

I also picked up an #instapot and I couldn’t be more excited for it. I picked up a rice cooker a couple of weeks ago and it’s already paid off. However, the pot is tiny. It will be good for side dishes like rice and pasta – but not so much for larger meals like casseroles or meat.

I got it on sale too – regular price $89.99 and on sale for $74.00. Totally worth it. It’s a 20 cup pot and I’m dying to try it out. I’ve been researching recipes to try this week. Which also means I need some groceries soon. I run out of veggies so fast now.

Other items of importance – skin cream, skin cleanser, as I’m fighting another breakout with acne – thanks hormones. I see my doctor on Thursday for a new prescription. I also picked up an electronic toothbrush that is supposed to get your teeth cleaned like “dentist quality.”

Going to a dentist right now with COVID is still iffy for me. I’ve used it three times today and wow – what a difference. I’ve never used an electronic brush before so I have no comparison. But my mouth feels clean and happy. Hopefully this will help with sinuses too.

Why am I doing this all?

It’s part of my “get healthy summer plan“. Getting healthy isn’t just about losing weight and getting fit. It’s about clean skin. Healthy teeth. Looking good and feeling good about it. Especially if I start a new job in the fall or go back to school.

We could all use a little pick me ups from time to time. And this is my way of saying, “Hey, I deserve this. Totally.”

So, that’s my plan for the next bit. Continue with working out daily. Eating healthy. Looking forward to cooking meals with the instapot so I don’t have to turn the oven on – it was 28C here today – way too hot to stand over an oven.

I really hope the indoor pools open next month. I really want to join some fitness classes while I have the time.

I’m still looking at getting gardening supplies but finding it difficult to find supplies and plants in one go. I thought I had supplies from my last condo – but can’t find them 😦

The magpies are driving me crazy and I’m searching for an owl to put on the balcony too.

Anyway. That’s life in a nutshell this week. I’m seeing my dad again and looking forward to things getting somewhat back to normal.

I’m trying not to read or watch the news. It’s depressing as hell out there.

What are your plans for the summer? I think I’m staying close to home this year. No travel plans just yet.

Have a great Monday.
