Oscar night!

on

I’m thinking of my mum tonight. We loved watching movies together and did so for so many years. We’d watch the Oscars as a family every night and then talk about the movies we had to catch up on.

The last movie we watched together was The Rite. She loved shows like The Sopranos and Game of Thrones. I think she’d have been pissed off with the ending like everyone else. But movies – we watched all kinds of movies.

She loved scary movies too. Not gore. We were more into movies with interesting characters and plot twists.

But we loved the Oscars. We’d make popcorn. Sit down as a family – at least all the girls. We were more interested in the dresses and tuxes than the speeches.

Over the years, after mum died, I kept up Oscar worthy movies and would binge watch all the new movies close to Oscar time. I’ve watched The Irishmen and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood recently – both were amazing and I think they are going to be big winners.

The Irishmen reminded me of 90’s dramas like Casino, Heat and I’m drawing a complete blank on the other hit movies. But the 90’s was a great decade for movies.

I’m watching the red carpet ceremonies now. I cancelled my cable so I wasn’t sure I’d be able to watch but luckily, it’s streaming live.

So, no fitness post today. Instead, I’m just going to reheat some left overs or maybe have a salad. I may do a follow up post on the winners. I think I still have a lot of movies to catch up on.

Are you watching the Oscars tonight? If so, what were you favorite movies? And if not, no worries – it’s not for everyone. I even took a break during the whole Me Too movement – got way too political for me!

I’m rambling.

Have a good Sunday.
