Monthly Update #4!

Can you believe it’s been four months since I started this blog? Four months! I can’t believe it. It doesn’t seem real.

It’s Sunday already. The past month has flown by in the blink of an eye. It’s already second week of July and I haven’t gotten very far in my fitness challenge. My trip to Toronto is in two weeks! We’ve been busy cleaning up our family home to get it sold. Things have just been super busy.

I had the brilliant idea of starting a second blog about music. But I forgot that music doesn’t get nearly as much traffic as things like food, photography and travel. So, I really need to make an effort to make this blog my first priority when I get home.

I do have some updates though. And all things considered – even with four weeks of solid rain – it’s been a pretty great summer so far. If you can call this weather summer… lol. Even our local weather man gave up hope. He wrote about how he wished he could tell us it was going to be a sunny day but instead he shared us a picture of his cat. When the weathermen give up hope – well, you know it’s going to be a lousy summer.

But I have NOT given up. Not on my plans and not on my goals to get into shape. It’s just taking a lot longer than I had hoped.

My weight is still down. It’s been fluctuating due to some leg swelling (thanks hormones) but I’m still down at least ten pounds since I started this challenge. I have a lot more to go. I haven’t been cooking as much as I’d like to this week.

I actually went out for dinner on Thursday night after work. I walked four blocks and stopped at the first place that I could find open. Sad to say that most of the restaurants in the area cater to the business crowd and shut down by 5 pm. Makes it hard to find a good meal (and affordable) after work.

I stopped in at a small sushi joint and I was not disappointed. Sushi while expensive, is still on the healthy side. I knew it would be a good choice. I was the only non-Asian in the restaurant. And that’s usually a good sign.

I ordered a combination of small maki and my favorite – Tamago. Oh man. It was so good. I really want to learn how to make Tamago but I think it’s an art. Just watch this video and you’ll understand why. My goal in life is to make sushi at least once. This really is an art form.

I am keeping to my fitness goals. I slipped for a few days but for the most part, I’ve been cooking a lot of my meals. I slipped during the week and bought lunch for a few days. But I need to get back at it if I want to see more progress before the trip.

I won’t have access to a computer while in Toronto so I won’t be able to write too much. I will update my Instagram and share pictures throughout the week. So, definitely head over to Instagram (mostlysingle) and follow me for that.

I think I’m going to stop there. It’s been a long day already and I have a busy day ahead tomorrow of cleaning and getting my condo organized. I had some furniture delivered from my dad’s house. Things are really looking good. Every little piece reminds me of mum and is really starting to feel like home. I may have to stick around another year or two in this building.

On a positive note – I’ve reached over 225 followers! It’s crazy because I have done very little promotion with this blog. I just can’t justify spending $300 on a business blog for all the bells and whistles. It’s too expensive for my pocketbook which is thin at the moment.
